Christusia

Christusya has been in our family for two years, during which God has done miraculous things in her life. The fact that she lives in a family with two loving parents, her new mom and dad, who provide food and clothes for her every day, has brought stability into her life. To you, these things may seem ordinary. But for this girl, these were important details in her tiny heart.

In the past. Christusva lived in many different places, moving from flat to flat, and from house to house. One night, she stayed with her mom. The next night, her mom's friend would keep her. She didn't have any permanent place to live where she could call "home."

This is how Christusya describes the story of her life:

"Once upon a time. I wandered along the streets all alone. And my heart was desperate for love and care. I saw two figures approaching me - a father with his little daughter, hand in hand. And I gazed at them with jealousy. I saw that they loved each other. And I longed to feel that same love expressed to me. And I wanted so badly that this man, with his daughter, would come to me and caress my head. But they simply passed by me. I continued to walk down the street, holding some bitterness inside, when another two figures approached me. I saw an elderly lady with a boy. 'A grandmother with her grandson,' I thought. While waiting for some attention from their side, I hadn't noticed how quickly they had disappeared. Others came toward me, but they all passed on by. And I found myself standing on the street without anything and without anybody in the whole world. Nobody needed me. And I thought, 'I'm just a vagrant.'"

From an early age, Christusya had to earn money for her mom, begging on the streets. When she was very young, her father died; and her mother and grandmother began to drink together. Having been beaten by her mother, one day Christusya ran away to a shelter. Later,
she went to live in an orphan boarding school. Then at last, at Joshua House, she found a real family, where she was accepted as a beloved
daughter and special sister. However, in her heart, she clung to the hope that one dav her mom would repent and take her back home.
Not long ago, we heard the news that Christusya's mom had just died of a heart attack. The pain of hopelessness penetrated through the
heart of this little girl. At her mother's funeral, she couldn't help crying and stretching her hands out toward her grave. It was obvious that though she was ashamed of her mom, to some extent, she continued to love her with a heart full of compassion. She realized that she had become a real orphan - totally without parents or relatives, alone in this huge, violent world. In a few days, the long-awaited time of camp had arrived. But it wasn't joyful for Christusva.

She was depressed, grieved, and overcome with sorrow. She thought that nobody understood her. But God did. He spoke directly to her heart, in her secret place of prayer. Jesus healed her, gave her peace and comfort, and most of all, HOPE. He showed her that she was not alone in the world - that she was accepted, and that she had PARENTS. This young girl now realizes that there are a lot of people around her that need her and love her. And she needs them, and can't live without them. Only in God can we find this unique ability to love and to be loved, with a true love. And she received this family as a treasure from God. Now, her laughter fills all the floors of Joshua House, bringing with it the happiness of a child who has found her home…at last!
